Design Adaptations HQ

Have you ever been curious about the home/office setups that others use as their blogging headquarters? Darren Rowse just showcased his and I enjoyed seeing that, and looking through all the pics and videos that others shared in response, so I thought I’d share mine.

My office is more like a hub than a “headquarters”, but it works for me. The stairs are just off the to the right, so I can be on the 2nd floor in a 2 seconds flat if necessary (I have a toddler), and the kitchen/living room is just around the corner (a.k.a. easy access to the coffee pot or fridge).

The unfortunate thing - it’s the front room of the house, and because we have an open floor plan I don’t have the luxury of a door. But the room gets a lot of natural sunlight and has a view down the street, so at least it’s cheery. :)

I had a picture in my head of the style of furniture I wanted, and my husband was kind enough to build it for me. It’s of the weathered/worn, Crate & Barrel-ish flavor, and as you can see I dig blue.

Anyway, this is where I spend most of my time! Now I’ve showed you mine - why not show yours? Link it up in the comments or pop over to ProBlogger and show your stuff there. If you’re interested in particulars, you can check out some photos I put on Flickr, that have notes about my system and peripherals. It’s really not that glamorous though. :)

Charity - as if we needed one more thing to reinforce our similarities… check out my office

Its the hub not the HQ - no doors, multiple computers, front room of the house similar systems, etc! Except yours is more organized than mine is right now.

I LOVE your desk Char! It’s so massive and has all kinds of shelves and cubbies (sp?) to put stuff in. The more place to hide clutter, the better. ;)

My desk is only organized because I just got over a week-long cleaning obsession. I’m much happier in my work space now. :)

I haven’t got much of a set up as for yet. My brother has quite a nice gaming area with his laptop, surround sound and some nifty storage.

I’ll wait until I move out before I focus on a nice work environment. What I have now is sufficient.

If you follow design related blogs, it seems you can't click a mouse anymore without Coda's icon making an appearance. I heard about this software long before buying my Mac, but because it's exclusive to that platform, I was never able to give it a test run. Now eight ... [ » ]

The Evolution of a Logo (I Can Live With)

One of the most frustrating things for me since I started writing on this blog was the lack of a logo I really loved. That's not to say I haven't tried. But logo design, to me, is kind of a thing all it's own and I'm just not very good ... [ » ]
