Don’t Mind the Construction
Sep 25th, 07 |Along with hundreds (if not thousands) of other Wordpress bloggers updating to 2.3 today, I’m experiencing some issues, and will be working to iron out the kinks this morning. My apologies if you come across anything that doesn’t look right or throws an error!
This update of WP was a significant one, with the addition of native tagging, as well as the abandonment of deprecated functions and changes in the schema (dropped tables in the database). In case you missed it, the official announcement has a listing of all the new features.
With regard to managing your tags, I know of two plugins already available: Clicktags, and Advanced Tag Entry. I downloaded ATE first, but I’m not too happy with it because you can only add tags via drop-down (unless you’ve memorized all your tags for manual entry. This makes the process of tagging too slow. Also the module takes up a lot of room on the page.
Clicktags is much faster, because it turns your tags into “buttons” you can view and click to add to the entry field (similar to an option in the now defunct UTW), but if you have many tags it also takes up a lot of room. Anyway that’s just my take. Try them out for yourself and let me know what you think! Or if you find a better plugin, pass it on. Oh and you might want to check out this article on adding tags to your theme.
Thanks for bearing with me today, until I can check everything over and get all my plugins updated! If you’re a Wordpress user, you already get it - if not, well, you should consider switching. ;) It gets better with every release!
