Quirkiness and the Face Behind Adaptations

Sometime between now and when David first wrote about the face behind his blog, I’ve been meaning to write something up myself. I thought it was a terrific way to let readers get to know who their reading a little better. So far time has gotten away from me this summer however, and the post went to the wayside.

Then Paul tagged me with 8 Things You Don’t Know About Me. Finally I thought what the heck, I’ll combine the two. Here now, on my birthday as it happens, is a recent shot of my “30-something” mug and some things you don’t know about me…

myfamily.jpg

Myself, husband John, daughter Shiloh, and son Chance. This was taken last week on Shiloh’s first birthday.

  1. I’m a real live red-headed step-child and left-handed even! How’s that for a double whammy? (By the way, this reference was for humor only – my childhood was actually a happy one.)
  2. I always have to be doing something mentally engaging. If I don’t have a computer in front of me, a book to read, a movie to watch, or a game to play – I get very bored, very quickly. The exception is when I travel.
  3. I have three tattoos. I’ve also been known to ride a Harley, smoke, drink and swear like a sailor. What a sinner, I know.
  4. My best vacation ever was 10 days in Athens and Mykonos, Greece. Beautiful people, fabulous food, and my first time snorkeling. First time to the beach ever in fact – and I loved it! Next stop, Costa Rica (in February).
  5. I’m an organizational fanatic, and a bit Type A, so everything has a place and I can’t stand a cluttered house (likewise with design).
  6. I’m a World of Warcraft addict. I’ve been hooked almost since it came out. Currently my two main characters are a Night Elf Rogue (Rhapsodi) and a Blood Elf Mage (Sonjie). I recently had to request that a good friend put time restrictions on my account for me. It’s embarrassing, but addiction comes in many forms.
  7. I was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army – serving 2 yrs on active duty in Germany, and 6yrs in the Wyoming National Guard. After I met my husband, I let my enlistment expire in favor of having another child and a more settled life. I loved being in military however, and will always hold it in high regard.
  8. I believe in serendipity, because I’ve experienced it first-hand! Before John and I met, I was working as an independent contractor to redesign the intranet for the corporation he still works for. I saw him in a photo of a company picnic one day and asked about him. Soon after,  my contract came up and I moved on. We never met. Three months later, by coincidence, a mutual friend gave him my number. He decided to call on a whim. When we finally met, it was like we just knew it was right. We were married 6 months later. :)

So…

You’re a loved-up, geeky, ginger, cack-handed, tidy, travelling sinner with a no attention span and a penchant for wearing uniforms.

Have I got that right? ;)

Exactly! :D

Thanks for joining in, Charity!

Great to see you and the family, and to read a little into your life outside your blog.

I’ve never been to Greece, but would love to go. Likewise with Costa Rica.

Later this year I’m off to India for the first time, and I can’t wait!

Wow, India would be quite an experience I bet. You’ll have to take lots of pictures! Regrettably I only take about half as many as I wish I would’ve once I’m home from a trip. :)

Charity – apart from the similarities in our names and your #2 – I am rapidly becoming a huge fan of yours! I love the picture and all the fun facts.

I’m glad you decided to join the fray on this one. Oh, and Happy Birthday – mine is next week.

Thanks Char, I’m flattered! You’re a Cancer too then, is that right? I knew I liked you for a reason! ;) Anyway happy (early) birthday to you as well.

Forgot to say, happy (belated) birthday!

I hope you had a great day.
