A New Geek Toy

May 14th, 07 | 3 remarks

Yesterday was a great Mother’s Day. I hung out with my kids, flitted around in the yard, and watched the season finale of Survivor Fiji (I’m a shameless addict). John made some burgers on the grill and we had Coldstone ice cream after dinner.

I didn’t think about blogging, or my stats, or what to put up for my next post, or if/when/where I should introduce more ads, or any the half-baked Wordpress themes I’ve had on the back burner. It was a carefree day, and a much needed break from technology and the web. Then John brought out a gift, which I truly was not expecting. He had given me some flowers and a card already, so I thought that was it, and I was perfectly happy. The gift was a shiny black brand-spankin’ new video iPod.

Suddenly I shifted into geek mode. This thing is gorgeous. It’s so sleek I didn’t even want to touch it for fear of fingerprints - almost too pretty to play with! That thought lasted about 10 seconds, however, then I was up and running for my machine to sync all my music, pictures, podcasts, contact lists and calendar.

I just finished customizing my preferences this morning, and now it’s looking fabulous sitting on my Moleskine notebook (yeah that’s me being lazy on my couch), next to my phone and camera - completing my digital life gagdetry collection. If someone didn’t know me well, they might think I actually have my s*** together! ;)

Nah. You need a screengrab of some sort of bar chart on-screen to make it look like you’ve got your shit together… ;)

Nice Mother’s Day present though! I wish I got stuff like that for Father’s Day! ;)

The Evolution of a Logo (I Can Live With)

One of the most frustrating things for me since I started writing on this blog was the lack of a logo I really loved. That's not to say I haven't tried. But logo design, to me, is kind of a thing all it's own and I'm just not very good ... [ » ]
