8 Quirks and the Face Behind DA
Jul 5th, 07 | 23 remarksToday is my birthday. Yay! Somewhere between now and the time David first wrote about The Face Behind the Blog, I’ve been meaning to write something up myself. I thought it was a terrific way to let readers get to know who their reading a little better. So far this has been The Summer Where Time Got Away however, and the post went to the wayside.
Then Paul tagged me with 8 Things You Don’t Know About Me. Finally I thought what the heck, I’ll combine the two. Here now, at the age of “30-something” is a recent shot of my mug and some things you don’t know about me…

Myself, husband John, daughter Shiloh, and son Chance. This was taken last week on Shiloh’s first birthday.
- I’m a real live red-headed step-child! And left-handed even! How’s that for a double whammy? :) By the way, this reference is only for humor - my childhood was fairly uneventful but happy.
- I always have to be doing something mentally engaging. If I don’t have a computer in front of me, a book to read, a movie to watch, or a game to play - I get bored very quickly. The exception is when I travel.
- I have three tattoos. Yep, it’s true. On my ankle, back, and a tribal patterned band around my upper left arm. I’ve also been known to ride a Harley, smoke, drink and swear. What a sinner, I know. /rolls eyes
- My best vacation ever was 10 days in Athens and Mykonos, Greece. Beautiful people, fabulous food, and my first time snorkeling. First time to the beach ever in fact - and I loved it all! Next stop, Costa Rica in February. Woohoo!
- I’m an organizational fanatic, and a bit Type A, so everything has a place, and I can’t stand a cluttered house (likewise with design). My 8 year old is the exact opposite, so you can imagine what a broken record I must sound like to him.
- I’m a reformed World of Warcraft addict. When it came out two years ago, I was so hooked. I’ve had more beta characters than I can actually remember, but now my two main characters are a level 67 Night Elf Hunter (Breisha), and a 40 Blood Elf Mage (Sonjie). I also have a mid-level Druid and Rogue, but they haven’t seen the light of Azeroth in many many moons. ;)
- I was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army - serving 2 yrs on active duty in Germany, and 6yrs in the Wyoming National Guard. After I met John, I let my enlistment expire in favor of having another child and a more settled life. I loved the camaraderie of the military though, and I’ve considered reenlisting once my youngest is in school.
- I believe in love at first sight, soul-mates and fate, because I’ve experienced them! Before John and I met, I was hired as an independent contractor to redesign the intranet for the company he works for. I saw him in a random photo one day and his face was imprinted on my brain. Shortly thereafter my contract came up, and we never met. Three months later, by coincidence, a mutual friend gave him my number. He decided to call (without ever having seen me). When we met, it was like we’d known each other all our lives. We were married 7 months later. It’s an amazing thing to know you’re with the one you’re supposed to be with. :)

So…
You’re a loved-up, geeky, ginger, cack-handed, tidy, travelling sinner with a no attention span and a penchant for wearing uniforms.
Have I got that right? ;)
Jul 5, 07 | 3:54 pmExactly! :D
Jul 5, 07 | 5:16 pmThanks for joining in, Charity!
Great to see you and the family, and to read a little into your life outside your blog.
I’ve never been to Greece, but would love to go. Likewise with Costa Rica.
Later this year I’m off to India for the first time, and I can’t wait!

Jul 6, 07 | 2:15 amWow, India would be quite an experience I bet. You’ll have to take lots of pictures! Regrettably I only take about half as many as I wish I would’ve once I’m home from a trip. :)
Jul 6, 07 | 7:11 amCharity - apart from the similarities in our names and your #2 - I am rapidly becoming a huge fan of yours! I love the picture and all the fun facts.
I’m glad you decided to join the fray on this one. Oh, and Happy Birthday - mine is next week.
Jul 6, 07 | 6:01 pmThanks Char, I’m flattered! You’re a Cancer too then, is that right? I knew I liked you for a reason! ;) Anyway happy (early) birthday to you as well.
Jul 7, 07 | 10:02 amForgot to say, happy (belated) birthday!
