Great software. I find this application very user-friendly. The fact that you can FTP is a really cool idea.

I got my start in Dreamweaver, but in the end I just started using notepad and a local WAMP to do my development.

I know almost everyone says Thanks for this article, but I really mean it! I am still learning so much about about using my computer efficiently and each time I run across an article that explains in laymen terms what a particular program is and how to go about using it, I get educated!

@Charity & @ Offshore...

I don't know how new the feature is but it is now very easy to search multiple files and whole folders etc and to just see the results or replace them.
Basically Cmd+F and then at the top of the files sidebar you click on the folder dropdown icon. There you choose which files to search.

Also you can work on multiple sites by opening another site in a new window.

I swear this program keeps getting better and better (although I suspect it might have been this good for a while and we didn't know where the cool features were)!

I was using coda some days and it is a great app, but it have in my oppinion a really big mistake, so big that im not going to buy the soft: it is not possible to search&replace whatever in more than one file, so if you need to change one word, image, etc for a full project or just in more than one file you have to open each file and search&replace it in all the documents, one document per time, so it is really slow. If they would fix this Coda would be perfect in my oppinion, but at this moment i prefer my “pack”: cssedit + skedit + captainFTP + ColorSchemer

The site preview of code seems great. I use HTML-Kit and it is great too. I offers FTP too and has some very helpful dropdowns while you code so that you can chose what you are writing and spear time.

Coda must be better, I will need to buy a mac before I try coda :)

@Charlie - Coda v1.5 was released not long after I wrote this post, and it has some nice improvements... namely the search functionality and how Clips can be organized. I occasionally follow along with the discussions about Coda in Google Groups and based on this update it's apparent that Panic is listening to users.

I'm sure the absence of certain features will be addressed in time. It took Dreamweaver many years to become the awesome app that it is, and I'll never completely abandon it - but I do so love Coda nowadays! ;)

Hey Charlie,
Definitely trial them both. I haven't used Dreamweaver, but I'm a bit of a purist and code everything by hand, so Coda is pretty much perfect for me. It's got the things that make website management easier, without too much fluff.
Hmm, what was the real reason I was replying. Oh yeah! The trial for Coda lasts 15 days, but not 15 days from when you install it. It's pretty much 15 whole days of use, or possibly 15 calendar days that you have it open. Ample time to get to love it!

Thanks for the review. I am going Mac in few days, and i thought Dreamweaver would be primary coding help app, but i will have to give a trial to Coda as well. It looks like it has really good options, but it is also lacking of some.
