The Great Technorati Exchange
Apr 25th, 07 | 49 remarksAn interesting idea from DoshDosh came to my attention today, and it sounds like a great way for many bloggers to benefit simultaneously. The concept is similar to a link exchange, but probably not in the way you think. In this case, it’s a program where anyone who participates has the opportunity to gain exposure and increase traffic by leveraging the power of Technorati Favorites.
The experiment revolves around Technorati because it’s such a popular community, and because there’s a certain amount of prestige that goes along with attaining higher ranks. This can be difficult to do however, and a long process which hasn’t exactly been quantified yet. Hence the reason for the experiment.
I decided to join in, and extend the offer to my visitors as well. Interested? If you want to take part, the goal is simple - break into the Technorati Top 100 Favorites. The guidelines for involvement are equally simple:
The exchange is open to anyone who owns a blog with original content (no splogs). Oh and you should have your blog claimed with Technorati, if you don’t already. Fair enough? Here’s how to get started:
- Add Design Adaptations to your Technorati Favorites.
- In a comment, leave your Technorati username and a link to your blog
- Favorite anyone else who included a link in the comments.
- I’ll reciprocate and Favorite all the links as soon as I see them.
Want to go a step further by hosting an exchange on your own site? Here’s what to do:
- In a new entry, notify your readers that you’re exchanging Technorati Favorites, and include a link to this entry so they’ll know about the exchange going on here too.
- When I’m aware of the link, I’ll include a link to your post about the exchange in this post itself so readers here can visit your blog to participate if they want to. I’ll get the links up as quickly as I can, but if you don’t see yours after a few days, drop me a reminder.
*Note: At the time of this writing, it takes 148 people Favoriting you to break into the Top 100. Not as low as noted on DoshDosh, but still very feasible. :) Good luck everyone!
